Cupcake Wars!

Today is SPCA cupcake day.

We raised money for the SPCA.  They need help to help look after the dogs and cats that no one wants.

We had to cook and decorate cupcakes to sell.  Ms Kelley took our cupcakes off to be judged and eaten.

Later, we made cupcakes again in our classroom.

Look at our other cupcake post to read about our blue cupcakes!

Blowing up a balloon

Today Room 18 blew up a balloon without using our mouths.

We used vinegar, baking soda and a bottle to blow up our balloon.

We put some vinegar into the bottle and some baking soda into the balloon.

Then we put the balloon on top.

We shook the bottle and the balloon slowly blew up!

We were excited!

The vinegar and the baking soda made lots of little air bubbles. They blew up the balloon for us!

Room 17 and Room 18 are scientists!

Today we joined with Room 17 to do our first science experiment.

We tried to do a baking soda and vinegar fireworks experiment.

We needed vinegar, oil and baking soda ice cubes.

We thought it would shoot up like fireworks.

In the photos you can see what actually happened.

We think we might try it again with white vinegar and add food colouring to our baking soda ice cubes.

We think our changes might make it more like fireworks.

What is a Scientist?

This term we are looking at Fabrics and Fibres as scientists.

First we need to understand what a scientist is, so we can be scientists.

Here is what Room 18 have decided a scientist does.

We are really looking forward to being scientists.
Keep coming back to see some exciting science experiments.

Then we will then move onto being scientists with fabrics.
