Word Power!

We have been working really hard in Room 18 to learn to write words correctly by ourselves.  Each week we practice writing them in a list to see how many we know now.

Dream was our winner this week with 12 words!

Some children have just started school and don't know many yet, but they will soon.  Parents can help at home by helping us practice.

Have a look through our photos to see how many we can write this week.

ANZAC Day

We have been learning about ANZAC Day at school.

We have learnt that ANZAC day is an important time to remember the soldiers.

Today we had an ANZAC ceremony at school.

We made poppies to wear at the ceremony.

We sat in the hall with all the parents and grandparents.  We listened to people talk about how war is bad and makes people feel sad.  We sang some songs.

Tomorrow is ANZAC day. Some people will go to a parade to remember the soldiers.

Grandparents Day

Today was our Grandparents Day.

Grandparents (and parents) were invited to our ANZAC ceremony at school, followed by the chance to work in our classrooms.

Corde's granddad came to our room.

I made a poppy with Mrs Wiersma. Then my granddad came. I showed him around the classroom.  I showed him my writing and we read a book.
I was happy when my granddad came.

Charm's nan came to our room too.

I read a story to Nan.  I showed nan my writing. She thought my writing was good. Lots of my friends came to watch me and Nan read my writing. I showed her my painting. She thought my painting was amazing.
I was happy Nan came but I was sad when she left.
